New residential project in Tysons: Park Crest gets the green light!

Plans are well underway for the final building in the Park Crest neighborhood in Tysons. How ffxnow reports, the company Renaissance Centro has submitted a building application that envisages the construction of a seven-story residential building with 206 residential units. This pioneering development will be located at the intersection of Westpark Drive and Park Run Drive and will also provide 260 parking spaces in a parking garage and 1,543 square feet of retail space located adjacent to the lobby.

What is special about the new building? In addition to functional features such as a dog spa, a gazebo and a courtyard overlooking Westpark Drive, the design also aims to offer a covered terrace. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2026, and anticipation for the new chapter in the development of the Park Crest neighborhood is already palpable.

A look at the development history

The Park Crest project has a long history. The plan was originally approved by Fairfax County supervisors in January 2003 and covered 13.5 acres. However, in recent years the concept has evolved through various revisions. Among other things, changes were made in 2004 and 2010 that included the exchange of terraced houses for a fifth apartment building and the deletion of a fitness studio in favor of an urban square. The new building is called “Building 3” and will therefore form an important part of the urban development plan.

Following the closure of the Harris Teeter on July 20, the search for a retail anchor in the area has never been more urgent. While a neighboring Starbucks remains open, it's unclear what's next for the once-bustling grocery area. However, the Park Crest master plan calls for establishing a grocery store or market in the area, which could be a crucial step given current developments.
