Erding in focus: Companies praise the location, demand improvements!
There is an overall positive mood among company representatives in Erding, as a current survey by the IHK shows. Almost three quarters of the companies rate the location as “good” or “very good”. Exactly 73.6 percent of the 144 companies surveyed emphasized the district's advantages, without a single company classifying the location as “very bad”. However, there is a small downside: the approval rating for the location situation has fallen by nine percentage points compared to 2023. Surveys like that of wochenanzeiger.de are of great importance for the region as they make trends and development priorities visible.
Despite this positive feedback, there are also clear indications of a need for action. 29 percent of companies report that a lack of staff, a lack of commercial space and a high level of bureaucracy are hindering growth. Otto Heinz, the chairman of the Erding-Freising IHK regional committee, emphasizes that improvements need to be made, especially in terms of reducing bureaucracy, administration and the supply of living space. “There is still a lot of room for improvement here,” says Heinz. Improvements in the area of mobility and the connection to freight transport are also required.
Strengths and challenges of the region
The good connection to the regional road network and the proximity to important customers and markets are consistently positive aspects for companies in Erding. Nevertheless, the industry suffers from uncompetitive energy costs, as the survey results also show. The 77.4 percent of those surveyed who would choose this location again also reflect a certain level of satisfaction, even though it represents the lowest approval rate in Upper Bavaria. Only 4.2 percent of companies plan to relocate or close their locations in the next three years, which is also one of the best figures in the region.
With regard to future development, far-reaching economic changes are expected in Erding by 2025. A report from wirtschaftspuls-bayern.de highlights the diversity of the corporate structure. The proximity to Munich and the excellent transport connections - both through the airport and the A92 motorway - make the city a dynamic center in Bavaria that is particularly attractive for qualified specialists.
Innovations and sustainable projects
Digital transformation and innovative technologies are the focus of many companies. The service sector is developing positively, while manufacturing also plays an important role. Some companies, such as the ERDINGER Weißbräu brewery, see themselves as pioneers in terms of innovation and are planning new products for 2025. A further look at the infrastructural developments shows that Erding is investing in renewable energies and promoting sustainable projects - from solar and wind power to a new waste reduction program that is intended to significantly reduce CO2 emissions.
For companies looking for suitable commercial space, the Bayern location portal offers a helpful platform. Commercial spaces and real estate can be searched there and offers for technology and start-up centers can be displayed. A wealth of information is also available for projects in the planning stage, which makes settling in Erding even more attractive.
Overall, the current situation in Erding shows that there are both opportunities and challenges. However, with the right strategy and better support from the administration, the region can continue to prosper and assert itself as an attractive location for companies.
