Festive Haydn mass for the patronage in Pasing on September 7th!
On September 7th at 10 a.m. it's that time again: the patronage of the old parish church “Maria Nativity” in Pasing is just around the corner. A festive and celebratory atmosphere will fill the church as the well-known orchestral mass “Missa brevis in G” by Joseph Haydn will be performed. This mass, also known as the “Nicolaimesse”, was composed especially for Prince Nikolaus Esterházy and is one of Haydn’s best-known works. The choir community of the Munich-West Parish Association will provide the heartfelt singing, while the orchestra consists of talented members of various Munich symphony orchestras. Matteo Maiolo will shine on the organ, and the experienced church musician Christian Merter will be in charge. This is an opportunity to experience the great tradition of church music and be enchanted by the sounds of Haydn. ( Weekly Gazette )
In connection with this musical celebration, it would hardly be out of place to take a look at the tradition of patronage as it is maintained in the Mariazell Basilica. The day is traditionally celebrated with a festive mass celebrated by the diocesan bishop. Maximilian Aichern OSB, celebrated. The 850-year history of the pilgrimage site is remembered, which has offered spiritual protection to many generations. Bishop Aichern describes Mary as a loyal companion and friend to people. Such encounters are important not only for the believers, but also for the entire community. One also remembers the visits of Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI, which gave the basilica a special splendor in the past. ( Mariazell Basilica )
The meaning of Joseph Haydn's music
Joseph Haydn, the great master of classical music, will not only be honored at the celebrations in Pasing, but also at numerous other events. His works are represented in abundance throughout the year, such as Symphony No. 90 in C major, which was written in 1788 for a concert company in Paris. Haydn's music reflects the deep emotions he experienced on his travels, such as at sea. It is often said that music is a language that unites everyone - and Haydn beautifully implemented this idea in many of his compositions. ( Deutschlandfunk culture )
In view of all these festivities as well as the praises of Haydn, who we often refer to as the father of the symphony and the string quartet, visitors to the Old Parish Church in Pasing can look forward to a very special musical experience. Whether through singing, playing instruments or the spiritual atmosphere - on September 7th, the love of music is combined with the reverence for traditional beliefs. An event best experienced in person!
