New Café Carlotta: Enjoy a brunch experience in the Glockenbachviertel!

The Glockenbachviertel in Munich has its gastronomic growth: this is expected since September 2024 Café Carlotta the guests at the lumberyard. With a fresh concept, operator Lino Leonhardt, who dreamed of having his own café as a boy, has secured a place in the heart of the city. The Café Tabula Rasa was previously located here, but has now closed its doors. Leonhardt, who grew up with Italian delicacies, wants to offer his guests a mix of bistro and brunch culture.

The tables are cleverly arranged in the small café, which can accommodate up to 15 guests and is housed in 12.5 square meters. “Sharing tables” are the new concept in which guests can sit at a table with strangers - making it easier to have a sociable chat. Nobody is forced to do this; it is up to each visitor whether they want to talk to other guests.

An Italian breakfast for gourmets

The menu at Carlotta offers a fine selection of Italian breakfast and brunch dishes. The popular Julius Brantner sandwiches come with sophisticated ingredients such as hummus, avocado and scrambled eggs and cost between 12 and 15 euros. There are also crispy croissants for 3.50 euros and vegan yoghurt variations with granola, fruit and compote for 12 euros. Homemade cakes round off the offering and are available for 4.50 to 5 euros. Wine isn't neglected either; guests can enjoy a glass for just 3.90 euros.

The atmosphere is warm and familiar, and the guests seem to feel comfortable. “It’s like a small, culinary living room,” says Leonhardt. He doesn't have to worry about the quality of his dishes; After all, he not only has experience in gastronomy, but was also raised on the best Italian cuisine. For additional support, he teamed up with Marc Li from the coffee stand at Viktualienmarkt.

From the idea to the opening

Lino Leonhardt, who is 33 years old and the father of twins, took the step into self-employment after learning that Café Tabula Rasa was closing. After contacting the former operator Margarete Vila, he signed a rental agreement and devoted a lot of time to remodeling and furnishing the café. The combination of Italian design and local colors gives the café its special charm.

Café Carlotta is currently open from Thursday to Monday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and plans to expand its opening hours in the future as soon as staff can be found. The capacity in the Schanigarten, which is available in spring and summer, is up to 55 people and offers guests the opportunity to enjoy the ambience of the Glockenbachviertel outdoors.

Café Carlotta shows that fresh ideas and a family atmosphere are also very popular in gastronomy. Maybe a future destination for a relaxed breakfast or cozy brunch in a great atmosphere. Stop by – a visit is sure to be a pleasure! After all, the restaurateur has a good knack for Italian delicacies and the right atmosphere.
