Ceremonial opening: Menterschwaige becomes the new flagship pub!
In Harlaching, a picturesque district of Munich, the new Menterschwaige restaurant was ceremoniously opened on Monday evening. The approximately 230 guests included not only managing directors and shareholders of the Augustiner Brewery, but also numerous representatives from city politics, including CSU city councilor Alexander Reissl. Martin Leibhard, the boss of the Augustiner Brewery, described the Menterschwaige as one of the great flagships of his brewery and just the start of many convivial evenings at this historic location.
Even in unpleasant weather, some found their way to the restaurant, despite the bad forecast for the journey via the cycle path along the high bank of the Isar. Many chose to drive and the reception team waited under cover in the spacious inner courtyard. While the clouds passed over the property developer Dieter Pawlik and his family, the opening ceremony began with a blessing from Pastor Rainer Maria Schiessler, followed by a packed buffet that caused enthusiasm even among the weatherproof guests.
Bavarian cosiness meets tradition
The Menterschwaige is a historic inn that clearly focuses on the Bavarian joie de vivre. The spacious beer garden under old chestnut trees invites not only locals, but also wedding parties and those seeking relaxation to linger here. The famous Augustiner beers are offered as well as regional delicacies, which include pasta made from parmesan wheels and spit roast from the beech wood grill. The operators, Till and Pamela Weiß, who previously worked at Wörthsee for seven years, have made great efforts to keep the tradition of inn life alive. The Augustiner Menterschwaige aims to create a cozy atmosphere in which guests feel comfortable.
Veronica Ferres and her partner Carsten Maschmeyer also stopped by, while the inns in Bavaria are also traditionally considered places to meet: whether you strike up a conversation while playing sheep's head or spend a sociable evening, these inns are firmly anchored in Bavarian culture. According to a report by erlebe.bayern, taverns are not just a place to eat, but also promote exchange and a feeling of community.
The Menterschwaige is not only a place to eat and drink, but also promotes hospitality and conviviality. Aimed at weddings and family celebrations, it offers space for around 1,000 guests, while the adjacent hotel has 28 rooms for overnight guests. This makes this location particularly attractive and an important part of social life in Harlaching.
With a successful renovation, despite the challenges posed by the listed building structure, Dieter Pawlik has put the Menterschwaige in a fantastic stage. The celebratory evening, which was accompanied by a full buffet and Spanish sounds, shows that hope for a sociable future is very popular here. A fresh wind blows through the historic walls and allows the inn to blossom again - a place that perfectly combines both tradition and modern inn life.
