On October 30, 2025, the Bavarian Minister of Social Affairs Ulrike Scharf presented a significant award to ten new companies in the Munich district that stand out for their family-friendly working models. This initiative is a central component of the Bavarian Family Pact, which now includes 1,780 companies, 33 of which come from the Munich district. The award-winning companies show that a family-conscious human resources policy is not only beneficial for the employees, but also for the companies themselves, as Merkur reports. With flexible working time models, support with childcare and an improved work-life balance, these companies are able to gain advantages in the competition for skilled workers, even if they do not pay the highest salaries.
The following companies received awards: theMunich District Office, theAnker Pharmacy in Haar, theIbidi GmbH in Gräfelfing, theInscopus GmbH in Haar, thekbo-Isar-Amper-Klinikum in Haar, theVR Bank Munich Land in Oberhaching, theLeibniz Computing Center in Garching, theSartorius and Fuhrmann in Hohenbrunn, theComoponents at Service GmbH in Oberhachingas well as thatInnovation and start-up center for biotechnology IZB in Planegg. These companies report fewer sick reports and greater employee loyalty, which clearly underlines the positive effects of the family-friendly measures.
Benefits for companies
The Munich District Office, the largest employer on this list, employs around 1,700 people, 66 percent of whom are women. It offers its employees the opportunity to work from home for up to 50 percent of the time. Those tooIbidi GmbH, which is based in Gräfelfing, relies on flexible employment contracts and invests 100,000 euros annually in childcare subsidies.
