The Sportfreunde Gmund-Dürnbach caused quite a stir in the state league last weekend. On October 29, 2025, two exciting games took place, which the team mastered excellently. How Mercury reported, the sports friends made their way into the success story with a 6:4 win against TSV Dachau III. They were also able to achieve a respectable 5:5 draw in the second game against SpVgg Thalkirchen IV.
The key to success in the first game was the Gmunder top pair cross. Thomas Schöffel and Marinus Huber managed to clearly win their entry double. Huber surprised his opponents and scored two points against higher ranked opponents, while Johannes Obermüller also shone and contributed another point. Unfortunately, player Michael Huber had to miss the game due to a fever, which initially dampened expectations.
A thrilling draw
In the second game against the favored Thalkirchen team, who had not lost a point before this match, the Gmund team held on bravely. A draw was ultimately a flattering result for the hosts, as the game featured a whopping 740 scored rallies. Particularly noteworthy were the two decisive balls, in which Marinus Huber and Maximilian Schöffel each lost out in the deciding sets.
Thomas Schöffel was in top form and won two singles and the doubles alongside Huber. Obermüller also impressed with two wins against opponents who had over 100 TTR points more and was able to increase his TTR points to 1721.

For TuS Holzkirchen, however, things didn't go as planned. After leading 3-0 at the start, they ultimately lost 4-6 against TSV Rott/Lech. Roland Krischke and Alexander Paulus were able to score points, but the shock of the setback remained. The Holzkirchner Reserve, on the other hand, achieved a 5:5 draw against TV Miesbach, which was mainly characterized by Gerhard Dörfler's decisive victory against Peter Limmer after a 5:9 deficit.
