Culinary duel: Marco cooks Bavaria and South Tyrol at the highest level!

Things are really getting culinary in Munich! Marco, a 38-year-old automobile manufacturer and new dad, put his cooking skills to the test during “Dinner” week. His motto for the evening is: “Bavaria meets South Tyrol”. He got his inspiration for this from his grandma in South Tyrol, and you can tell that in every bite!

Let's start with the menu that Marco served. The starter, a tempting dumpling trisus made from beetroot, kale and South Tyrolean bacon, immediately raised the expectations of his guests. The main course is also impressive: a juicy veal fillet, prepared using the sous-vide method, served with homemade knöpfle and crispy bacon beans. And to round things off there is a South Tyrolean apple strudel in a glass – a real highlight for guests with a sweet tooth.

An evening full of enjoyment

But how did the evening actually go? The kick-off begins with a sparkling wine tasting, where Marco compares the tastes of champagne and Italian sparkling wine while homemade bread and butter is served. The atmosphere is relaxed and guests are curious about what awaits them on the next course.

The feedback on the dishes has been mixed. Timo, one of the guests, immediately praises the starter, while Pau comments that the dumplings are smaller than expected, but still taste great. Lars gives the dumplings the rating “top in consistency” and thus takes the general atmosphere to another level. However, Pau also says that the main course is a bit boring. The evening is not only a culinary delight, but also a place for lively discussions.

For dessert there is the aforementioned apple tiramisu without dough, which is pleasantly served, but Basti misses the vanilla sauce and is of the opinion that the dessert is too sugary. Maybe a little downer for Marco, but Lars also gave it a positive rating – “Like in a very, very good restaurant”.

A high honor for hosts

The guests agree: Marco does a great job as a host. Timo even gives the top grade 10 out of 10! At the end of the evening, Marco received a total score of 35 points, which catapulted him to the top of the round. Really impressive!

This type of event not only helps to revitalize the culinary scene in Munich, but also shows how intertwined the Bavarian-South Tyrolean culture is in gastronomy. The cuisine of the two regions is reflected at least as much in the ingredients as in the preparation, and that makes every evening a special experience.
