Simon Rattle and the BRSO: Concert for a good cause in Munich!
Music will soon be happening in Munich! On November 8, 2024, the city awaits a very special charity concert in the renowned Isarphilharmonie. Simon Rattle, chief conductor of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra (BRSO) since the 2023/2024 season, will take the stage, continuing the commitment of his predecessor Mariss Jansons. Rattle describes the upcoming concert as a “treasure” that will bring in valuable income for the SZ Gute Works Foundation, which supports people in need. For 76 years, this organization has been working to help young and old by, among other things, financing music lessons and providing instruments.
For Rattle, music is more than just a job. Growing up in Liverpool in the 1950s, she played a central role in his family. His father was a jazz musician and imported violins, which sparked Rattle's passion for music at an early age. As a teenager, he organized his first charity concert and thus demonstrated his knack for mixing creativity and social commitment.
Program with great classics
The concert promises a top-class musical experience. The program includes the symphonies of Robert Schumann and Anton Bruckner. Schumann, who wrote his second album during a rather difficult phase of his life, guides the listener through emotions and drama. Bruckner's Seventh, which premiered in 1884, was considered one of his best works and, as is well known, was dedicated to Richard Wagner. The concert starts at 7 p.m. and the anticipation is already palpable.
The initiative for the benefit concert was launched in 2009 and is an important part of cultural life in Munich. “The BRSO concert is not just a musical performance, but a crucial source of income for social engagement,” says Rattle, demonstrating the importance of this event.
Those interested can look forward to ticket sales now and prepare for an evening full of musical highlights. More information can be found on Simon Rattle's official website and at Nationwide.
It remains to be hoped that many Munich residents will fulfill their cultural needs and fill the Isarphilharmonie on November 8th to actively support both BRSO and SZ Gute Werke!
