Wish tree in Moosburg: How to help disadvantaged children at Christmas!

The anticipation for Christmas is increasing and preparations for a very special event are taking shape in Moosburg. A dedicated team of ten people, led by Renate Pongratz, puts their heart and soul into bringing joy to disadvantaged children. The initiative is called “Wunschweihnachtsbaum” and is designed as a participatory activity that is being implemented in cooperation with Sparkasse Freising-Moosburg. A beautifully decorated tree is set up on which the children's wishes hang, which can then be fulfilled by generous citizens. As the Wochenanzeiger reports, the campaign is supplemented by the support of Aunt Emma and Copy-Print, which, in addition to storage capacity, also provide posters and flyers.

But what is behind this loving idea? After 20 years, Mr. Winterstötter ended the Christmas tree project because no direct successor could be found. The committed Ines Reithmeier then contacted the Aunt Emma organization through Johannes Becher in order to continue the important tradition. It is particularly pleasing that all kindergartens in Moosburg were invited to take part in the campaign. Contact is currently underway to collect the children's wishes. Unfortunately, older children from after-school care centers have to be left out this year for organizational reasons.

A concept for charity

The importance of such actions is also reflected in the words of Engelbaum, an organization that supports disadvantaged children. In 2025, more than 7,000 gifts are expected to be selected and presented to children in need. Here the children learn the meaning of Christmas: charity, hope and confidence. This draws attention to the living conditions of needy children and shows how small means can bring great joy, as Engelbaum reports.

How does the campaign actually work? The Christmas decorated tree is placed in the savings bank. There are cards with the children's wishes hanging on this tree, which can be picked up by interested citizens. They then get the gifts, which are then handed over to the savings bank unwrapped together with the corresponding card. The gifts are numbered and checked before being distributed to the kindergartens for distribution. The Wochenanzeiger team hopes for active participation from the population.

It is a wonderful opportunity to share Christmas joy and at the same time give the disadvantaged children in our region a festive occasion. Let us be inspired by the solidarity in our community and bring a little sparkle into the world of these children! Who knows, maybe the Christmas tree will soon be decorated with many fulfilled wishes.
