Munich awakens: natural pools open for summer 2025!
The 2025 swimming season has begun, and the natural pools in Munich are ready to open their doors to water enthusiasts. Under the city's clear sky, those seeking relaxation can now enjoy the benefits of chlorine-free natural pools. The focus is particularly on the Maria Einsiedel natural pool and the new Georgenschwaige outdoor pool, which was officially opened on June 2, 2025.
In Maria Einsiedel, bathers can swim in harmonious unity with nature again. The historic natural pool, crossed by the picturesque Isar Canal, offers 50 meters of space for swimming and a spacious paddling area for younger visitors. Organic water purification using microorganisms ensures that everything here remains in harmony with nature. The separate nudist areas, both mixed and for women, are also very popular. The unique conditions make Maria Einsiedel a real gem for bathing enthusiasts.
The new highlight: Georgenschwaige natural pool
The new Georgenschwaige natural pool, opened by Dr. Christian Scharpf, Dr. Gabriele Jahn and Nicole Gargitter, brings a breath of fresh air to Munich's leisure activities. After a renovation that took over two years and was carried out with ecological considerations in mind, the bathroom impresses with a 1000 square meter reed filter that cleans the water naturally. You can look forward to this biological water treatment with a clear conscience!
The Georgenschwaige's facilities are impressive: in addition to a swimmers' pool, there is a non-swimmers' pool and a paddling pool. All pools are designed to be barrier-free so that everyone can enjoy nature. In addition, a combination of heat pumps and photovoltaic systems ensures climate-friendly operation. The newly designed entrance area offers state-of-the-art amenities such as e-ticket options and lounge chair rentals.
Prices and opening times
The entry prices are fair: children up to 12 years old swim for free, while the all-day price is 6.30 euros for adults and 4 euros for concessions. Access is also free for holders of a Munich Pass or Holiday Pass. The opening times are flexible, with Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. and Friday to Sunday from 9 a.m., with swimming possible until 7 p.m. and even until 8 p.m. if the weather is nice.
With these latest additions, both Maria Einsiedel and Georgenschwaige offer new standards for sustainable and natural bathing fun in Munich. Summer, sun, splashing water – the people of Munich can look forward to refreshing hours outdoors. A PDF guide that summarizes information on a total of 20 swimming pools in and around Munich is also available and makes planning your summer days easier.
