Clearing work begins: Leinthalerstrasse closed for a week!
From Wednesday, October 1st, 2025, the landscape around Leinthalerstrasse in Unterföhring and Freimann will be thrown into serious disarray. Loud South German newspaper Work begins on clearing trees and bushes to make space for future construction projects on Föhringer Ring. These measures are part of the comprehensive expansion of state road 2088 and will result in a complete closure of Leinthalerstrasse for a week.
The aim of the preparations is to create space for embankments and construction roads. The work will be spread over several phases over the coming months, with the majority of construction activity scheduled to take place next year. Road users should prepare for various traffic restrictions from October 1st, which are expected to last until the end of February 2026, such as State government of Bavaria reported.
Traffic restrictions and diversions
In the first construction phase from January 2nd to 12th, 2026, state road 2088 between the A9 and the M13 district road will be completely closed. A second closure will follow from 13 to 23 January 2026, affecting the stretch between the M13 and the St2340. Diversions via the St2350, B471 and St2340 are planned. Even around the construction sites it will be difficult to get around without detours, but as recommended, these can easily be avoided.
Cyclists will also be particularly addressed: a detour route will be set up for them through the English Garden. The traffic authorities are trying to limit the restrictions to the necessary minimum. For example, the wood from the cleared greenery is used for energy and after the construction work, the newly created areas are to be greened so that nature returns.
Other construction sites in the area
Residents and road users are asked to adapt to the changes early and to follow the diversions and instructions from the traffic police. Bad weather can also cause a change in schedule, so it's good to keep an eye on current information.
