S-Bahn closure in Munich: massive restrictions on the weekend!

In Munich there are extensive restrictions on S-Bahn traffic at the weekend. The popular main route is from BR closed from this evening at 10:20 p.m. until Monday morning at 4:40 a.m. This affects the sections of the route between Pasing and Ostbahnhof as well as the connections to Riem and Trudering.

Asphalt and rails are urgently being replaced, so that the Giesing S-Bahn station cannot be reached during this period. The S8, which runs between Pasing and Ostbahnhof without stopping, provides the necessary mobility. In addition, special replacement buses are available every 10 minutes to take passengers from Pasinger train station to the main train station.

Details and alternatives

During this time, the S-Bahn line S1 runs from the main station without stopping to Moosach and then continues regularly to Munich Airport. For train connections between Pasing and Ostbahnhof, the construction work also casts shadows on the timetables of other lines. S-Bahn drivers in particular have to be prepared for restrictions; For example, the S3 will only run between Mammendorf and Pasing and between Giesing and Holzkirchen.

Further construction work is expected in the coming days. Closures will be in place again on Monday 20 October from 9.30pm to 1.30am whilst maintenance works take place. Some train cancellations and changed departure times have also been announced. During this time, the replacement service offers bus lines that connect Pasing with Puchheim and Buchenau, among others.

Fall break and further planning

How muenchen.de reported, the construction work is not just limited to this weekend. Work continues on the main route, which also entails noticeable restrictions throughout the autumn holidays. The closures already planned include the period from October 31st to November 10th, which will cause additional inconvenience for travelers. DB InfraGO has already installed new switches and made other significant adjustments.

To minimize possible problems and delays, it is recommended to use the “Find a connection” function online or obtain current information in popular apps. This means that passengers always remain well informed and can quickly adapt to the changes.

For everyone who relies on public transport, the following applies: planning well is the motto!
