Leonie Lobinger: Neuhausen-Nymphenburg's new voice for change!
Leonie Lobinger, the new chairwoman of the Neuhausen-Nymphenburg district committee, has already achieved a lot in her almost 100 days in office. Her term began in July 2025 when she succeeded Anna Hanusch. Membership of the Green Party not only gives the 34-year-old political backbone, but also the opportunity to actively support the interests of her fellow citizens. She is currently planning to apply for the next term of office from May 2026 and would like to promote constructive cooperation within the committee until then. “I find the variety of topics that I am confronted with very exciting,” says Lobinger, who emphasizes how important contact with different groups in the district is for her.
Neuhausen-Nymphenburg is the second largest district in Munich with over 100,000 inhabitants. The colorful diversity of the district is reflected not only in the population, but also in the numerous projects and initiatives that the district committee supports. An annual district budget of over 240,000 euros supports local projects, from improving school route safety to climate adaptation measures. “We want to maintain Neuhausen-Nymphenburg as a livable district for everyone,” explains Lobinger.
Key concerns and challenges
A central concern of the new chairwoman is the fair distribution of public space and the fight against social inequality, which is noticeable in many areas. “It is important that we create offers that counteract extreme political parties,” is their goal. Lobinger is convinced that active civic engagement and close cooperation with local associations and initiatives are crucial in order to overcome challenges together.
The district committee, as a directly elected district parliament, is an important part of municipal decision-making. It not only serves as a mouthpiece for the citizens, but also has decision-making powers in district-related matters. Typical tasks include participating in major planning and financing smaller projects. The public nature of the meetings allows citizens to submit their suggestions and criticism at any time, which promotes exchange between the population and the committee and increases transparency.
A look into the future
Leonie Lobinger wants to tackle the challenges in the district with a clear head and new ideas. The topics she would like to address are diverse and affect all areas of life in Neuhausen-Nymphenburg - from school infrastructure to environmentally friendly mobility to social issues. “We not only have to preserve the district, but also actively shape it,” she says. It will be exciting to see how their visions develop in the coming months.
