Munich is calling: Your ideas for a liveable Schwabing-West and Moosach!
The MOSAIQ project in Munich offers an exciting opportunity to actively shape the quality of life in our city districts. Citizens can submit their ideas for better mobility and a more pleasant urban climate in Schwabing-West and Moosach until October 14th. The goal? Livable neighborhoods in which not only living but also coexistence are very important.
The focus is on simple but effective measures such as seating or raised beds. It is important that the suggestions can be implemented realistically and do not require any permanent structural changes. The MOSAIQ project is led by the Technical University of Munich (TUM), and over 80 partners have joined the project. That too Fraunhofer IAO is on board as an associated partner and supports the development of innovative ideas for mobility and urban life.
The quality of life survey
But the project goes beyond coming up with ideas. Extensive quality of life surveys will be conducted during and after implementation. These are intended to show how the measures affect the daily lives of residents. Selected suggestions are to be implemented from summer 2026, with a project forge made up of 40 citizens working on the best ideas to create concrete project outlines.
The project areas focus on Schwabing-West, in particular Karl-Theodor-, Kurfürsten-, Georgen- and Schleißheimer Strasse, as well as Moosacher Dachauer and Pelkovenstrasse, Wintrichring, Allacher Strasse and the railway tracks at Moosach train station. Participation is possible for all age groups: children can be represented by their legal guardians. Suggestions can be made both online and at specially set up dialogue points.
Tackle together
Various partner organizations, such as Green City e.V., are also committed to a green and livable Munich. With the support of ambassadors, the population is motivated to take part in the project. The University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich also carries out valuable research on sustainable mobility solutions and their influence on the transport infrastructure.
The connection between research, urban life and the needs of citizens is the focus of the work on the MOSAIQ project. Creative approaches such as pop-up campaigns are used to actively involve different target groups and obtain their opinions and ideas. This creates a lively exchange that includes both science and practice.
Overall, the MOSAIQ project offers a great opportunity to not only contribute your own ideas, but also to actively participate in shaping urban life in Munich. Time is running: Proposals can still be submitted until October 14th. Take the opportunity to make Munich a bit more livable!
