The Kassel Marathon is fast approaching: from Friday, September 12th to Sunday, September 14th, 2025, the running routes will lead through the entire city of Kassel. The event not only promises exciting competitions, but also brings with it comprehensive changes to local public transport, which are particularly important for travelers on Sundays. NVV reports that the transport companies will be prepared for numerous diversions and cancellations during this time.

On Saturday, September 13th, bus route users must be prepared for the following restrictions:

  • Buslinie 12: Ganztägige Umleitung Richtung „Auestadion“. Zwischen 13 und 17 Uhr wird die Strecke in Richtung Waldau über die A49 umgeleitet. Zudem entfallen die Haltestellen „Giesewiesen“ und „Damaschkebrücke“. Die Haltestelle „Messehallen“ wird zur Eisenbahnbrücke vor dem Eingang der Messehallen verlegt.
  • Buslinie 16: Diese verkehrt nur zwischen „Rothenberg“ und „Orangerie“, der Abschnitt zwischen „Fuldauferweg“ und „Auestadion“ fällt komplett aus.

Sunday: Public transport affected

Further traffic disruptions

The bus routes are also severely affected. The restrictions are varied and include:

  • Bus 10: Entfällt zwischen Witzenhäuser Straße und Ahnatalstraße, verkehrt in zwei Teillinien.
  • Bus 11: Fährt ohne Halt zwischen Teichstraße und Bahnhof Wilhelmshöhe.
  • Bus 12: Wie bereits erwähnt, Umleitungen und entfallende Haltestellen zwischen Auestadion und Waldau.
  • Bus 16: Komplette Einstellung bis 15 Uhr und die Umleitung bis ca. 16:30 Uhr.
  • Bus 30 und 31: Verschiedene Umleitungen und entfallende Haltestellen.
  • Bus 100 und 110: Umleitungen mit Wegfall und Beginn am Bahnhof Wilhelmshöhe.
