Construction work: Nighttime S-Bahn restrictions in Munich from today!
Traveling by S-Bahn in Munich will be severely affected by construction work from today, October 27th, 2025, to October 31st, 2025. Deutsche Bahn has made a current report about comprehensive Changes in the timetable which apply from 10:20 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
The reason for these far-reaching restrictions is construction work on the second main line in Laim. During this time, replacement buses will be provided between Pasing, Laim, Hirschgarten and Donnersbergerbrücke to still take passengers to their destination. The S-Bahn lines also only work to a limited extent:
Affects the S-Bahn lines
- S 3: zwischen Donnersbergerbrücke und Holzkirchen.
- S 8: zwischen Donnersbergerbrücke und Flughafen.
- S 2: zwischen Hackerbrücke und Erding.
- S 1: in Richtung Freising/Flughafen beginnen/enden in Moosach.
- S 2: in Richtung Erding beginnen/enden an der Hackerbrücke.
- Züge in Richtung Petershausen/Altomünster beginnen/enden am Heimeranplatz Gleis 11 und fahren von/bis Obermenzing ohne Halt im 30-Minuten-Takt.
- S 4: in Richtung Geltendorf beginnen/enden in Pasing.
- S 4: Züge in Richtung Trudering fallen zwischen Trudering und Pasing aus.
- S 5: in Richtung Kreuzstraße beginnen/enden am Ostbahnhof.
- S 5: in Richtung Pasing fallen zwischen Ostbahnhof und Pasing aus.
- S 6: in Richtung Ebersberg beginnen/enden am Ostbahnhof Gleis 2.
- S 6: in Richtung Tutzing beginnen/enden in Pasing, ab ca. 00:40 Uhr zwischen Tutzing und Hauptbahnhof.
- S 7: fahren planmäßig zwischen Hauptbahnhof und Wolfratshausen.
- S 8: in Richtung Flughafen/Airport beginnen/enden an der Donnersbergerbrücke.
- S 8: in Richtung Herrsching beginnen/enden in Pasing.
The replacement stop in the direction of Donnersbergerbrücke will be set up at Hirschgarten on Landsberger Straße. For affected passengers, additional information about construction sites is already available on the website Munich S-Bahn available.
Further construction work at a glance
The current construction work is part of a larger plan that began on October 10, 2023, with changed timetables on the main route and in the outer areas. This includes, among other things, the replacement of 500 sleepers and 1.1 km of rails as well as maintenance work at train stations. Part of the Sendlinger Spange will also be put into operation during the autumn holidays and new switches and signals will be installed.
Last weekend, the main route was closed from October 17th to 20th, 2025 due to maintenance work. The route experienced the greatest restrictions at that time and the situation around the Ostbahnhof was also very challenging. Only the S8 ran to the Ostbahnhof, while other lines only ran to a limited extent. In the meantime, Munich residents are using replacement buses between Pasing and the main train station every 10 minutes, and the MVG bus line 130 provides a connection between Pasing and Westendstraße (U4/U5).
