Traffic disaster in Munich: subway and buses are canceled!

The traffic situation in Munich this morning is anything but relaxed. The U3 and U6 subway lines in particular are struggling with delays that are expected to last until 8:30 a.m. after a disruption last night was resolved. The Munich Transport Company (MVG) recommends paying attention to the train destination displays and loudspeaker announcements in order not to be misled. While the S-Bahn services are running smoothly, there are more significant problems on the bus routes.

Bus routes 192, 193 and 197 have been completely canceled due to noticeable staff shortages. Bus line 16 is also affected; passengers here have to expect delays due to a vehicle malfunction. There are also annoying traffic problems on the Mittlerer Ring, which doesn't make the situation any easier. The current circumstances were recorded in a detailed ticker from tz.de.

Traffic jams and accidents on the highways

On the A8 towards Stuttgart, drivers must expect a traffic jam between Adelsried and Edenbergen, which will result in a delay of six minutes. On top of that, there was already a closure on the A8 between Dachau/Fürstenfeldbruck and Sulzemoos on July 3rd due to rescue work, which resulted in a whopping 55 minutes of lost time. The A99 is also affected, with a 16-minute delay between Germering-Nord and the Feldmoching triangle.

Obstructions in tram traffic

There is also some unpleasant news regarding trams. There are disruptions in the Prinz-Eugen-Park area on tram line 17 due to a vehicle malfunction that is expected to last until 9:30 a.m. Previously, a route interruption on tram lines 20 and 21 had to be reported after a traffic accident at Leonrodplatz. Replacement traffic with SEV buses was set up.

The MVG updates show that today's traffic problems are partly due to disruptions that have already been resolved, but that continue to reverberate. Some subway lines, such as the U5, are still struggling with delays of up to ten minutes due to vehicle malfunction.

Overall, this traffic chaos makes it a challenge for many Munich residents to get to their destination on time. The city administration recommends choosing alternative routes and means of transport to minimize stress factors. Meanwhile, the PVG says: “Hold on!” – hopefully the situation will calm down again soon.
