Today, June 23, 2025, the German Weather Service (DWD) is causing worried faces among Munich residents: A severe weather warning has been issued for the city and district of Munich. The warning is valid until 3 p.m. and refers to expected thunderstorms of level 3 out of 4. This is not an everyday scenario and everyone should remember that. Flooding and aquaplaning cannot be ruled out, while hail could further exacerbate the situation.
The temperatures today are rising to a pleasantly humid 24 to 29 degrees, which doesn't make the situation any less tense. With strong wind gusts of up to 60 km/h, sometimes even gusts of 70 km/h near the shower, it is recommended to secure loose objects and tie down tents or covers. The DWD states that the feared thunderstorms should subside during the night on Tuesday. Only a few showers are expected from Tuesday onwards, and fortunately there will be no more rain clouds in sight on Wednesday [news.de].
