Dispute over villa in Solln: daycare plans threatened by refugee home!

The situation surrounding the planned daycare center (Kita) at Beuerberger Straße 9 in Munich-Solln is causing quite a stir. While the managing director of the BHB Group, Melanie Hammer, wants to tackle the opening of the daycare center, the residents have a say. The conversion plans for the villa, which have already been approved, have shed new light on the possible uses and suddenly there is talk of refugee accommodation.

“We have already filed a lawsuit against the daycare permit,” explains Franz Ruland, one of the affected residents. Many in the area are afraid of noise, a tighter parking situation and the additional traffic that 86 children in a daycare center could entail. Some people already see the “quick solution” in a noise barrier, but this cannot be approved for nature conservation reasons. Residents are busy collecting signatures against the daycare center and using flyers to draw attention to the explosive situation. The question that concerns many: “Asylum home or daycare center in the neighborhood?”

New plans for the villa

Thanks to a new application for use, the possibility of a refugee home is now within reach. The preliminary approval has already been issued and this new plan does not require any structural changes or tree felling. According to current information, it could be possible to use the existing kitchen and sanitary facilities, as well as the swimming pool in the basement. The BHB Group has always emphasized that the daycare plans have priority, but is also examining alternative use as accommodation for refugees.

District Committee 19 has not commented on the new situation, but after examining the building regulations, it sees no concerns with the application for refugee accommodation, as Alexander Aichwalder from the Greens also notes. “This could be a reaction to the loud protests of the residents,” he suspects. In fact, there is strong opposition among local residents to any uses planned for the villa. They not only fear noise, but also criticize high fees for the daycare center.

An enrichment for the district?

Melanie Hammer remains optimistic and sees the daycare center as an enrichment for the residential area. In a district where the situation for childcare places is tense rather than relaxed, the need for a place for 86 children is undisputed. The district committee also supported the daycare plans because it recognized the undersupply in the district. Nevertheless, the fundamental question remains exciting: What will happen to the plans for the daycare center? The court has not yet set a date for considering all claims.

The situation remains tense, with two clear fronts: On the one hand, the residents, who loudly represent their interests, and on the other, the BHB group of companies, which is like a rock in the surf and focuses on the goal of the daycare facility. It remains to be seen whether the villa will ultimately become a daycare center or a refugee home. In any case, the Munich city administration cannot ignore the accommodation of refugees for long, after all, there are still numerous people in the city without a place.

Let's stay tuned to see how the legal disputes turn out and what solution is ultimately found for Solln. It remains to be hoped that an agreement will soon be in sight that represents a compromise for everyone involved.
