Sports Festival 2025: Experience over 70 top sports at Königsplatz!
On Sunday, July 6, 2025, the Königsplatz in Munich will once again be the venue for sport, fun and a variety of activities. The 14th Munich Sports Festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will delight visitors with more than 70 free sports offerings. Against the impressive backdrop of the Propylaea, over 50 clubs and institutions from Munich and the surrounding area present their offers. As the City of Munich reports, the aim of the event is to make the joy of exercise and sport visible to everyone.
Classic sports such as football, handball and volleyball are of course part of the program, but more unusual activities are also offered. New additions to the repertoire include, for example, the Japanese martial art Bujinkan and the trend sport Kin-Ball. If you want something a little more exotic, you can try skimboarding, which is a mix of skateboarding and surfing. The sports festival also offers interesting sports such as cricket, hobby horsing, pickleball as well as squash, darts, archery and chess. If you want to know what is possible, you can find more detailed information on the sports festival's homepage.
Highlights of the festival
A special highlight of the sports festival is the “Minga Warrior” obstacle course, which is organized as part of the Ninja Bundesliga. There will also be a Trickline World Cup where the best athletes will present their spectacular tricks and jumps on the slackline. In addition, visitors can look forward to the first street floorball tournament with mixed teams. A street soccer cup for young soccer enthusiasts and a breakdance battle in which talented dancers show off their best moves round off the extensive program.
Sports Mayor Verena Dietl encourages all Munich residents to stop by on Sunday. “Here you can not only watch, but also become active yourself and get a taste of the different sports,” she says. At the same time, representatives of the participating clubs will provide information about memberships and training opportunities. Enough energy is also provided in the form of food trucks and a beer garden.
Some familiar faces
The supporting program is complemented by the presence of former professional athletes. Christina Hering, who took part in the 800 meters at the Olympic Games, will be at the LG Stadtwerke stand. Verena Bentele, known as a twelve-time Paralympic champion, will take over the award ceremony at the girls' soccer tournament. The two ambassadors will not only share their experiences, but also provide an insight into the world of competitive sports.
The Munich Sports Festival presents itself in the midst of a sporting year in 2025, which has many other exciting events in store, including the World University Games in Rhine-Ruhr and the European Women's Handball Championship in Germany and the Netherlands. In Munich itself, the final of the Champions League will take place in May in the Allianz Arena, a sporting stronghold in 2025, like that Events in Germany show.
In summary: The Munich Sports Festival is not just an event - it is a large platform for community, sport and health. Keep July 6th free and be there when Königsplatz is transformed into a pulsating place of movement!
