South Tyrolean flair in the Sendlinger Landshuter Stüberl – a new beginning!

In Sendling there is a breath of fresh air in the popular traditional pub “Landshuter Stüberl”. Around two months ago, the experienced restaurateur Eduard Öttl took over the restaurant, which looks back on over 70 years of history and was previously under the loving management of Lisa Sot for 20 years. The sudden death of the popular landlady in March 2023 left a big gap in the district, which is now being filled by the new operator Astrid Kurz. With these new tasks she is fulfilling a heartfelt wish and bringing fresh impetus to the “Boazn”.

What makes the “Landshuter Stüberl” so special? Öttl, who previously ran a mountain inn in South Tyrol, would like to bring the South Tyrolean flair into the Stüberl. The red and white South Tyrol flag now hangs proudly above the counter. The menu includes delicacies such as bacon, cheese and smoked sausages as well as selected wine. So, despite the new operator, the restaurant remains entirely in the tradition of its predecessor. Hardly any changes were made to maintain the usual atmosphere.

A piece of tradition

Beer prices remain stable: beers from Klosterbrauerei Reutberg, Augustiner and Franziskaner are available for 4.20 euros. There was a lot of activity during the reopening when two regulars happened to drop by, bringing with them a wave of 40 new guests. This shows that the regular customers, some of whom have been coming for 50 years, are loyal companions to the traditional pub. Öttl is optimistic and is already feeling the good response from the guests, who are increasingly showing younger faces.

The “Landshuter Stüberl” is not just a place for a good beer. Birthday parties and white sausage dinners can be organized upon prior request. An Instagram channel is also operated to announce future events and involve guests. Interest is growing and the Stüberl is slowly becoming a popular meeting place for the neighborhood again.

Another nice restaurant nearby

Also in Munich, the St. Benno-Einkehr restaurant at Stadelheimer Str. 71 is a sought-after place. Since it was founded in 1987, it has been run as a family business by the South Tyrolean Walzl family and offers a mixture of Bavarian delicacies and other delicacies. There you can enjoy a cozy guest room and a beautiful beer garden. It is also impressive that St. Benno-Einkehr is always looking for reinforcements in the kitchen in order to remain true to its high standards. The Munich gastronomy scene thrives on tradition and innovation, and with changes of operator such as in the “Landshuter Stüberl” and the constant offering in “St. Benno-Einkehr”, the city, especially Sendling, has a lot to offer.
