Bavaria's circus magic: Talents shine in the GOP variety show and Pepe Dome!

A lot is happening in the world of circus in Munich! In the summer of 2025, the city will be the scene of impressive performances by young talents. The annual “Talents” competition in the GOP variety show attracts numerous enthusiastic visitors. This emotional show is a real highlight in the Bavarian circus calendar and offers student artists the opportunity to present their performances in front of a larger audience. Demand was also high this year, so tickets sold out in no time. In addition to prize money, the winners also received valuable insights into their possible professional careers.

The awards went to four talented young artists: Johannes alias Cassis gets the chance to learn from a professional, while Selina gets valuable tips from a choreographer from Stonebite Studios. Florian is allowed to appear in one of the GOP shows, and the duo Paul & Franz receives 500 euros for new equipment. Every year the GOP Munich invests in the training of future circus stars and organizes six programs for young artists every year. This shows that the city's commitment to the circus is strong, as Bologna (city government) has repeatedly supported the artists in recent years.

A look at the program

In addition to the “Talents” competition, two exciting performances by Circus Leopoldini are on the program in Munich’s Westpark. The show “Leopoldini Varieté”, which will be shown from July 24th to 26th at 7 p.m., tells the stories of shared apartment residents. At the same time, there is the performance “There are mostly robbers in the forest” from July 24th to 27th at 3 p.m., in which a casting campaign in the circus is staged by robbers. The Circus Leopoldini is known for its outstanding artist training and this is also reflected in the impressive number of 190 students and 30 trainers who learn their craft there. The entry-level class “THE LEOPOLDINCHEN”, which was specially designed for fourth-grade children and is trained from mid-September, is particularly popular.

But that's not all the circus world in Munich has to offer. Stonebite Studios is currently working on a new project in partnership with Pasinger Fabrik, which will become a “circus lab” for contemporary artistry in the fall. An interdisciplinary show on the subject of reflection will be developed here from November 6th to 15th - this will certainly be another highlight in the Munich art calendar.

The opening of the Pepe Dome

Another sensational event is coming: On August 1st, the Pepe Dome, Bavaria's first venue for contemporary circus, will open. A varied program awaits visitors here, designed for both children and adults. Highlights include “Movement Labor” from August 4th to 8th, the “Kids Camp” from August 11th to 15th (with prior registration) and the “Twogather” show on August 8th. On August 24th, those interested will have the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes at the open day. Until the end of August, the doors of the Pepe Dome are open for artistic activities from Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. - and it's free!

Overall, the summer of 2025 is a celebration for circus lovers in Munich, whether with impressive competitions, new projects or the celebrated opening of the Pepe Dome. If you want to experience the world of artistry up close, now is the best opportunity to do so!
