Bavaria's circus magic: Talents shine in the GOP variety and Pepe Dome!

In Munich, a lot is happening in the world of the circus! The city became the scene of impressive performance in the summer of 2025. The annual "Talents" competition in the GOP variety is attracted to numerous enthusiastic visitors. This emotional show is a real highlight in the Bavarian circus calendar and offers student artists the opportunity to present their performances in front of a larger audience. The demand was also great this year, so that the tickets were sold out in no time at all. In addition to prize money, the winners also received valuable insights into their possible professional career.

The awards went to four talented young artists: Johannes alias Cassis is given the chance to learn from a professional, while Selina gets valuable tips from a choreographer from the Stonebite studios. Florian may appear in one of the GOP shows, and the Duo Paul & Franz receives 500 euros for new equipment. The GOP Munich invests in the training of future circus stars every year and organizes six programs for young artists every year. This shows that the city's commitment to the circus is strongly pronounced, because Bologna (city government) has repeatedly campaigned for the artists in recent years.

A look at the program

In addition to the "Talents" competition, there are two exciting performances of the Circus Leopoldini in the Munich Westpark. The show "Leopoldini Varieté", which will be shown from July 24th to 26th at 7pm, tells the stories of shared apartments. At the same time, there is the idea "In the forest are mostly robbers" from July 24th to 27th at 3pm, in which a casting campaign in the circus of robbers is staged. The Circus Leopoldini is known for its outstanding artist training and this also shows the impressive number of 190 students and 30 trainers who learn their craft there. The entry -level class "Das Leopoldinchen", which was specially designed for fourth grade children and will be trained from mid -September, is particularly popular.

But that's not all that the circus world in Munich has to offer. Stonebite Studios is currently working on a new project in a partnership with the Pasinger factory, which is to become a “circus lab” for contemporary artistics in autumn. Here an interdisciplinary show on the subject of reflection from November 6th to 15th - this will surely be another highlight in the Munich art calendar.

The opening of the Pepe Dome

Another sensational event is imminent: On August 1, the Pepe Dome will open, Bavaria's first venue for contemporary circus. Here visitors can expect a varied program that is designed for both children and adults. The highlights are "Movement Labor" from August 4th to 8th, the "Kids Camp" from August 11th to 15th (with prior registration) and the show "Twogather" on August 8. On August 24th, interested parties have the opportunity to look behind the scenes at the open house. By the end of August, the doors of the Pepe Dome are open to artistic activities from Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Overall, the summer of 2025 is a festival for circus lovers in Munich, whether in impressive competitions, new projects or the celebrated opening of the Pepe Dome. If you want to experience the world of artistics up close, you now have the best opportunity!
