Six Rosenheim schools are starting the new StartChances program!

On the first day of school, September 16, 2025, good news was announced: six schools from Rosenheim have been awarded the StartChances program of the Free State of Bavaria. This program primarily aims to strengthen the students' basic skills in the subjects of German and mathematics. What is particularly noteworthy is that this commitment is also intended to promote the children's social-emotional development, which is of great importance in times like these. Radio Charivari reports that the selected schools are the Astrid Lindgren primary school, the Fürstätt and Happing primary schools, the Prinzregenten primary school as well as the middle school at Luitpoldpark and the Fürstätt middle school.

The Starting Opportunities program brings with it the necessary funding that is to be used for construction work, improved equipment and additional staff. These measures are essential to optimize the framework conditions for student learning. As part of a larger overall plan that was launched in recent years through the amendment of the Bavarian Education Act, the program is not just a one-off solution, but a long-term approach to the further development of schools in the region. The Bavarian schools comply ISB obliged to create school development programs that function as action programs in order to drive development forward in a targeted manner.

Broad context and regional programs

But the Rosenheim schools are not alone. Numerous schools in other districts such as Altötting, Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen and Berchtesgadener Land were also included in the StartChances program. This initiative extends throughout Bavaria and shows that the Bavarian educational landscape is actively addressing the challenges of today. In the Bavarian Ministry of Culture There are numerous other school locations that benefit from this funding in order to lay the foundation for a successful school career.

Overall, it shows that there is a clear trend towards comprehensive support within the education system. The StartChances program not only invests in knowledge, but also in the skills that children need to start their future in an emotionally stable and socially competent manner. This will be particularly important in order to lead them into society not just as students, but as responsible citizens. The developments in Rosenheim could therefore serve as a model for other regional schools.
