Traffic chaos in Munich: Leopoldstrasse closed for Corso Leopold!
Schwabing gets a very special flair again this weekend! From September 13, 2025, 8:00 a.m. to September 15, 2025, 2:00 a.m., Leopoldstrasse will become a car-free cultural mile. The reason for this is maintenance work and renovations that go hand in hand with the “Corso Leopold” festival. The roads will be closed, which will cause some traffic congestion and possible congestion for drivers, reports news.de.
The event stretches over a length of 1.1 kilometers and promises a variety of entertainment. The plan is to close Leopoldstrasse in the direction of Petuelring between Ludwigstrasse and Ungererstrasse and to close Petuelring in the direction of Odeonsplatz. From Siegestor to Münchner Freiheit, the road will be inaccessible to road users. By the way, there are more than 90 exhibitors who will offer visitors a colorful program and lots of information. How tag24.de reports, the festival will begin on Saturday at 4 p.m. and last until midnight, while Sunday will start at 11 a.m. with music and activities until 8 p.m.
A feast for all senses
“Celebrate together – make it sustainable” is the motto of Corso Leopold. Over 200 artists will present their talent on ten stages. There is something for every taste here - from music to art to inspiring workshops. A wide range of food options ensures that no one stays hungry and everyone can enjoy the day to the fullest.
Entry is free and it is recommended to travel by public transport. This is not only practical, but also environmentally friendly - an important aspect that will be emphasized during the event.
Urban development and quality of life
In connection with this event, it is also about the long-term vision for Munich. The Munich workshop has set itself the goal of creating a platform for creative and sustainable urban development. All citizens, associations, companies and initiatives are addressed here in order to work together to develop solutions for creating living space, creating workplaces and improving the traffic situation. The focus is on progressive development that brings together social and environmental issues.
So it's up to the community to create a city worth living in. The Corso Leopold is not just a celebration, but also an expression of cohesion and innovative spirit. So if you stop by Schwabing at the weekend, you can look forward to a colorful and inspiring experience!
