Steyr shows power: Duo shines at the European Championships in Functional Fitness!
The European Championships in Functional Fitness, which took place from June 13th to 15th in 's-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands, captivated the sporting world. Among the 430 athletes who came from all over Europe were two talented representatives from Steyr: Markus Brandstetter and Sabrina Freimann. Both showed an impressive performance that not only demonstrated their individual abilities, but also the potential of the Austrian functional fitness team.
The competition categories in functional fitness are as diverse as they are challenging. They combine disciplines such as weightlifting, gymnastics, endurance and speed and place high physical and mental demands on the participants. Markus Brandstetter, who acted as both an athlete and coach for Sabrina Freimann, was able to experience the intensity of the competition first hand. “The 430 participants were all at a high level and we were able to perform well in our training,” reported Brandstetter.
Successful performance despite placement
Despite the strong competition, Sabrina Freimann was able to do well in an international comparison. Both athletes gained valuable experience, even if it wasn't enough for a podium finish in the end. “Despite everything, it was a very educational experience that will help us move forward,” Brandstetter continued. The intense atmosphere and encounters with other top athletes not only sharpened their sporting skills, but also strengthened their team spirit.
Background to functional fitness
Functional fitness has become a popular sport in recent years. This is achieved through the work of the iF3, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and protecting sport worldwide. Despite numerous challenges, such as anti-doping compliance and hosting international events, iF3 strives to ensure the highest standards of fairness and transparency and to promote a fair, inclusive and thriving sporting community.
In order to achieve these goals, the iF3 relies on support. Donations are not only welcome, but are also tax deductible, which represents a financial incentive for supporters. “No matter how small or large the contribution, every support helps us strengthen the integrity of sport worldwide,” said a spokesman for the organization. The challenges are great, but together we can achieve a lot.
Overall, Markus Brandstetter and Sabrina Freimann not only tested their sporting limits, but also acted as ambassadors for functional fitness sport in Austria. Her experiences from the European Championships will certainly have a lasting impact on her future sporting career and show that a lot can be achieved with commitment and team spirit.
