Market huts conquer Neuperland: gastronomy for up to 250 guests!
In Munich, something is happening on Hanns-Seidel-Platz in Neuperlach. The huts of the Interim Elisabethmarkt are moving and will become part of the exciting Neuperland interim use project. Loud Mercury Seven market huts from Schwabing are moving into the new location to enrich the culinary offerings on site. This rezoning not only shows the city's flexibility, but also its commitment to creating space for community and enjoyment.
An honest look at the facts: The original plan was for a “community house” with space for 100 people and a catering area with 40 seats. But after delays and concerns from the district committee, interim use is now the focus. Neuperland's project runs until November 2026, and the cabins will have an open courtyard around them that can accommodate up to 250 guests. The folding pavilion, which was already part of the NEBourhood project, will also find its new place here and serve as a meeting point.
A place for encounters and culture
NEUPERLAND should establish itself as a place for encounters, exchange, culture and relaxation. Funded by the Bavarian special fund “Revive inner cities” and with the support of the state capital Munich, this initiative will also benefit the neighbors in Neuperlach. “There is no need for pressure to consume here,” emphasizes Neuperland’s concept. Event rooms and the use of the infrastructure are open for celebrations, sports and team meetings. Interested citizens, clubs and artists are invited to actively participate. All information about this can be found on the NEUPERLAND website.
However, the enthusiasm about the project is overshadowed by the disappointment in the district committee. BA boss Thomas Kauer (CSU) said that the originally planned community house was considered a failure. The piecemeal implementation and the lack of involvement of decision-makers are causing discontent. Kauer and his team now hope that the catering space, which is due to be leased from October 1st, can be well occupied. Applications for the catering space can be submitted by August 31st at the latest.
An open ear for ideas
The responsible city departments are ready to support all creative minds who are interested in temporary uses in Munich. This requires the submission of ideas and concepts in order to ensure the flow of information and allow citizens to participate. The state capital of Munich has clear contacts for such concerns who can also offer support in the development and implementation of their projects. Information about this can be found on the city's website. City of Munich also reports on all legal regulations that must be observed.
Overall, the NEUPERLAND project shows how creative approaches and citizen-oriented initiatives can create new spaces for community. We can only hope that the catering space will soon find a suitable operator to further enrich the offering in Neuperlach.
