Literature Morning at the Lätare Center: Experience healing through words
On Sunday, November 2nd, an exciting literary morning will be held at the Lätare Center, moderated by the renowned author Felix Leibrock. The morning's theme is “Time Heals All Wounds,” and will feature an in-depth discussion about the role of time in healing emotional and physical wounds. The event starts at 10 a.m. and promises numerous interesting insights for those interested in literature and psychology.
In preparation for this event, Felix Leibrock has compiled twelve new works of fiction that will be published in 2025. These books all deal with the central theme of time and healing. The aim is not only to give participants an overview of stimulating reading, but also to provide valuable tips for Christmas presents. In addition to the discussion, every visitor will receive a handy recommendation list with short comments on the books presented.
Does time really want to heal?
In his lecture, Leibrock will also explore the idea that time does not only act as a healer. Siegerale's assertion that “time does not heal wounds, but rather covers up, represses and weakens pain” is thought-provoking. Untreated wounds, the warning goes, can deepen and become chronic. True healing requires confronting the painful experience, not just waiting. So what role does time really play? Is she a reliable ally or more of an illusion?
To further explore these questions, the artist Salvador Dali is also discussed, whose work “The Persistence of Memory” questions the linear idea of time as unchanging. The melting clocks symbolize the subjective perception of time, which is shaped by our personal experiences. Leibrock will show how these perspectives are incorporated into the books discussed.
A literary experience with a bodysuit
A special highlight will be the presentation and signing of Leibrock's new crime novel “Murder on the Königssee”. This not only shows the diversity of his work, but also how he uses literature as a medium to deal with topics that are close to many people. Admission to the event is free, and participation is accompanied by a short prayer by Pastor Paul Streidl, with musical accompaniment by the service band from the Jerusalem Church in Taufkirchen.
Literature has proven to be a powerful tool for healing. Experts like bibliotherapist Helga Grubitzsch and behavioral psychologists use books to support clients in difficult times. They believe that reading and writing stories allows people to access their emotions, which will also be highlighted at the event. The healing power of language receives attention here, as does the importance of selecting appropriate literature that is both inspiring and insightful.
