Strong S-Bahn restrictions in Munich: Construction work on weekends!
This coming weekend, more precisely from Saturday evening at 10:30 p.m. to Monday morning at 4:40 a.m., the Passengers of the Munich S-Bahn have to adjust to restrictions on the main route. The occasion is important construction work as part of the city's largest traffic project, the second S-Bahn line. This is reported by the tz.de.
The S-Bahn lines will be affected this weekend as follows:
- S1: trains towards Freising/Airport end at the Gleis 20-26 main train station and do not stop in Moosach.
- S2: trains run according to schedule between Erding and Petershausen/Altomünster across the main route.
- S3: trains from Holzkirchen end at the Ostbahnhof Gleis 3, then continue to Ebersberg as S6.
- s4: trains towards Trudering fail between Trudering and Pasing; In the direction of Geltendorf you end at Heimeranplatz Gleis 11.
- S5: trains from Kreuzstraße drive from Donnersbergerbrücke as S7 towards Wolfratshausen.
- S6: trains from Ebersberg end at the Ostbahnhof Gleis 4.
- S7: trains drive between Wolfratshausen and Donnersbergerbrücke.
- S8: trains run between Herrsching and Airport.
additional traffic adjustments
Due to the construction work there will also be a rail replacement traffic between the Ostbahnhof and Trudering. Passengers should prepare for the fact that the S-Bahn lines S3 and S6 cannot drive through as usual. On the S-Bahn master route, only the S7 will run regularly between the Ostbahnhof and Pasing, while other trains have to use or have to be used.
But the restrictions are not the only challenges on the weekend. At the same time, the popular “Classical Center on Odeonsplatz 2025” Open-Air concerts will also take place. This expects visitors on site and could have additional effects on bus traffic, especially with the lines near the event.
long -term improvements in view
These construction measures are part of the “Stark S-Bahn Munich-Program 14Plus” initiative, which was launched by Deutsche Bahn and the Bavarian State Ministry of Housing, Construction and Transport. More than 1.5 billion euros are invested in the improvement of the S-Bahn infrastructure in order to network the region even better. Specifically, the second S-Bahn master route ensures significant relief, and the first improvements in the form of 20-minute cycle to the line endpoints and the introduction of new trains from 2023 can be expected. You can find details on the website of MVV Munich.
The long -term project is to bring various infrastructural improvements by the end of 2028, including the barrier -free expansion of several train stations and the creation of additional turning systems. This takes another step towards sustainable and comfortable transport connections in the Munich Metropolitan Region.
We advise all passengers to adjust to the changed timetables in good time and, if necessary, to look for alternatives. Stay attentive and enjoy the culture that Munich has to offer this weekend!
