S-Bahn closures: commuters between Ostbahnhof and Pasing!

The Munich commuters will have to adjust to some inconvenience on the S-Bahn routes in the coming weeks. According to the Süddeutsche Zeitung, passengers between Ostbahnhof and Pasing have to expect restrictions, since the S-Bahn operation is stopped on several nights. The nights from 23/24 are particularly affected. June to 25./26. June, June 30th/1. July to 3rd/4th July and from 8th/9th July to 9./10. July. During these blocking times, a rail replacement traffic is set up by buses from 10:20 p.m. to 5 a.m. to bring the commuters to their destination. On Thursday and Friday, June 26th and 27th, only a line between Ostbahnhof and Pasing from 9:20 p.m. to 4.40 a.m. The reason for the disorders is construction work on the new electronic signal box at the Ostbahnhof, which are necessary to bring the infrastructure up to date and thus optimize the S-Bahn operation in the future.

During the construction work listed, further trains are also affected by the changes. As the Munich S-Bahn reports, starts and end trains towards Erding at the Ostbahnhof and drive from/to Riem without a stop. Even trains towards Petershausen and Altomünster do not stop at the main train station, but start from the Isartor. These changes also apply to numerous lines such as the S2, S3 and S4, especially in the periods if the main route is only passable. In addition, the S-Bahn traffic between Ostbahnhof and Giesing/Riem/Trudering fails, which requires additional trips with replacement buses to maintain mobility.

Anyone traveling from the direction of Geltendorf or Kreuzstraße will also have to change at Heimeranplatz or Giesing, since the connection is no longer operated via the Central Station track 27-35. However, the S7 will drive according to schedule, and there is still the possibility to leave Pasing.

But not only for the coming weeks, passengers have to prepare for restrictions. During the summer holidays, Deutsche Bahn plans further construction work to modernize the S-Bahn infrastructure. These missions, under the “Strong Schiene” project, will extend over several weeks and also significantly impair traffic around the Ostbahnhof.
