S-Bahn chaos in Bavaria: delays and diversions on the S8!
Today, June 22nd, 2025, there are some changes at Deutsche Bahn in Bavaria that travelers should be aware of. The reason for this is necessary repairs to a signal that affect the S-Bahn lines. How news.de reported, the situation particularly affects the S-Bahn line S 8, which runs from Herrsching to the airport.
The S 8 is routed differently towards Pasing and travel time extensions of up to 10 minutes are possible. In addition, partial failures cannot be ruled out. A specific section of the route on which the diversion takes place is between Daglfing and Ostbahnhof (long-distance train, platform 7-13), where the stop at Leuchtenbergring is no longer necessary. Nevertheless, the regular stops between Pasing, Ostbahnhof and Daglfing remain.
Further diversions and alternatives
For everyone who takes the S-Bahn, the question arises: What alternatives are there? Travelers can use the S-Bahn lines S2, S4 and S6, which run between Ostbahnhof and Leuchtenbergring. According to information from tz.de Similar problems arose on Monday, January 13th, which affected the main S-Bahn line in Munich. Even then, repairs to a signal were the cause of failures and diversions.
The S6 and S8 lines are running as usual again, but delays of up to 20 minutes and some canceled trains are still to be expected in the direction of Pasing. The S6 from Ebersberg to Tutzing in particular is experiencing diversions between Trudering and Pasing.
Special regulations in the event of delays
There is an important rule for all travelers: If the delay is more than 20 minutes, they are allowed to continue traveling on other routes, including using long-distance trains that do not require reservations. This shows that Deutsche Bahn is trying to accommodate travelers in this situation.
The current message from Deutsche Bahn was updated today at 10:29 a.m. Travelers are therefore urged to take note of the situation and the diversions and, if necessary, adjust their travel plans to avoid unpleasant delays.
