CSD in Munich: Pay attention to traffic restrictions on weekends!
On the weekend of June 28th, Munich will be the scene of a colorful spectacle, as Christopher Street Day (CSD) is just around the corner. At the same time, Königsplatz becomes a musical center with several concerts. The city is preparing for a hearty celebration, but this also brings with it some restrictions on local public transport. As the Munich Transport Company (MVG) informs, passengers must expect diversions and interruptions on Saturday.
The CSD in Munich is always a highlight and the city is expecting an impressive parade in 2025. The big political parade will move through the city center on June 28th, starting at Mariahilfplatz and ending at Ludwigstrasse. Under the motto “Liberté, Diversité, Queerité”, around 200 groups campaign for the rights and acceptance of queer people. The parade is led by Mayor Reiter and the “Dykes on Bikes” group, which has a tradition and gives the starting signal. This demonstration is not only the largest of its kind in southern Germany, but also shows the broad support from society, with participants from social initiatives, political parties and companies.
Public transport restrictions on June 28th
The diversions affect both trams and buses. Below are the most important changes for local transport:
- Tram 17: Fährt von 11 bis 15 Uhr. Entfallene Haltestellen: Wiener Platz, Am Gasteig, Isartor, Reichenbachplatz.
In addition to these measures, there will also be restrictions at Königsplatz between June 27th and 28th. The CityRing 58/68 and the MVG Museums line 100 cannot serve the Königsplatz stop, and there will be a diversion for the replacement buses on lines 27 and N27, which will affect movements in the city center area.
