Mysterious murder in Obermenzing: Police are looking for witnesses for clarity!
On July 7, 2025, 62-year-old Ulrich Zilker was found dead in his secluded apartment in Obermenzing. According to the results of the autopsy on July 10th, it is clear that it was a homicide. The body was badly decomposed and bore signs of massive violence. Zilker's last contact was a phone call with a long-time acquaintance on June 15th, before she reported him missing on July 7th because she couldn't reach him. As part of the investigation, the police broke down the door to his apartment with the support of the fire department and found traces of blood at the crime scene. It remains unclear whether there was a fight as no signs of a break-in were found.
The investigators from Criminal Investigation Department 11 have set up the “EG Keyserling” investigation group and are faced with a puzzle: Zilker lived in isolation and had neither family nor regular contacts. Neighbors hardly knew him; he often traveled around in a pink trolley. There is evidence that the perpetrator or perpetrators may have followed him into the house, leading police to believe that the perpetrator was known to him. Anyone who knew Zilker or has information about his reclusive life is asked to come forward. As part of this investigation, the police have offered a reward of 10,000 euros for relevant information that could help solve the case. Wanted posters calling for witnesses will be posted in the relevant districts of Munich.
Investigations are in full swing
The police launched a public call for witnesses on July 15th to obtain information about the last phase of Ulrich Zilker's life. Munich citizens are called upon to contact the Munich Police Headquarters or any police station on +49 (0)89 2910-0 if they have observed anything suspicious.
Given these dramatic circumstances, it is important to emphasize that police crime statistics cover all crimes, including attempted crimes. However, solving cases like this remains essential. A crime is considered solved when at least one suspected person has been identified. The investigators now urgently need to gain new clues to shed light on the matter.
The public is called upon to help the police solve this shocking crime. Only together can we maintain security in Munich and combat such crimes.
Anyone with information should not be afraid to take on this important role. Help solve the mystery of Ulrich Zilker's tragic end.
