Blitz Marathon in Munich: These 3 locations are checking today!

Today, October 16, 2025, Munich's drivers and cyclists can expect special attention from the police. Mobile speed cameras are in use in three places in the city. These radar and laser measuring devices are not only intended to punish speeding, but also make an important contribution to traffic safety.

This is the list of current speed camera locations: In the Eversbuschstrasse In Allach-Untermenzing, where the speed limit is 30 km/h, a speed camera was spotted at 3:11 p.m. In the Aubing-Ost-Straße, also with a speed limit of 30 km/h, the measuring point was first confirmed at 11:36 a.m. and then again at 2:00 p.m. Finally there is lightning in the Cincinnati Street in Obergiesing-Fasangarten, where the control was set up at 3:08 p.m.

To improve road safety

Speeding is known to be one of the most common traffic violations and is therefore a significant cause of accidents. Statistics show that adhering to the speed limit and adapting to circumstances such as weather conditions are essential to avoid accidents. The statistics on traffic accidents supports these facts and provides comprehensive data on the causes and consequences of accidents. The police take the issue very seriously and use mobile speed cameras particularly frequently in zones with an increased risk of accidents, such as in front of schools or in traffic-calmed areas.

Mobile speed cameras, which are used as needed, can be used flexibly and can be quickly relocated to new locations. Laser and radar technologies are often used, which enable precise measures. Such devices are often barely visible and can be operated via control vehicles with civilian status. For motorcycles, however, identification can be a challenge because measurements are usually taken from the front.

What does the future look like?

While the deterrent effect of stationary speed cameras decreases over time due to their long-standing presence, authorities are increasingly relying on modern mobile technologies. The replacement of old speed camera systems with state-of-the-art devices with laser technology is already underway. These innovative flash systems are compact, unobtrusive and can monitor multiple lanes at the same time without the need for additional employees to be on site.

There is a lot of responsibility on the streets of Munich today - not only for the officers who carry out these speed cameras, but also for the drivers, who are now well advised to keep an eye on speed and practice defensive driving. Road safety concerns us all, and it only takes a moment of inattention to end up in the traffic accident statistics.
