Bergson Art Power Plant: Bavarian Art Prize for Innovation awarded!

A symbol of innovation and cultural diversity in Munich: This Bergson art power plant was awarded the renowned Bavarian Art Prize 2025 in the Innovation category. Art Minister Markus Blume recently announced the good news in Munich.

The Bergson Art Power Plant, a fascinating place that combines industrial past, architectural innovation and artistic diversity, was only opened as a privately run cultural center in 2024 after extensive renovations and new construction. The awards ceremony will take place on November 18, 2025 at the Bergson, an ideal setting for a celebration of creative achievements in Bavaria.

Award ceremony and media coverage

“There’s something going on,” the award ceremony will definitely go down in the history books. Bayerischer Rundfunk announced that it would broadcast the event live on the ARD Mediathek's BR Channel from 7 p.m. It will also be broadcast on BR television on November 20, 2025 - a highlight that will attract attention far beyond Munich's borders.

The art prize is awarded in a total of eight categories, with each category, including exhibition, voice and creative work, being endowed with 10,000 euros. In addition, there is an undoped honorary award, which is awarded by the Bavarian Prime Minister to duly thank special achievements in the field of art and culture. The award winners are selected based on recommendations from an expert jury that reflect the diversity and quality of Bavaria's cultural landscape.

The Bergson: A place of encounter

The Bergson Art Power Plant has established itself as a very special place in Munich. It not only includes an impressive concert hall, but also houses its own ensembles such as an orchestra, choir and big band. In recent years the location has been able to assert itself as a center for cultural festivals, exhibitions, performances and social events.

When announcing the winners, Art Minister Blume emphasized the importance of the Bergson as a place that promotes young and innovative art. He praised the character of the house as “young, bold and brilliant” and emphasized that such creative retreats are of enormous importance for artists and cultural workers.

There is great anticipation for November 18th, because not only will an award be presented, but Bavaria's diverse art scene will also be celebrated. The awarding of the Bavarian Art Prize is a further step towards making the cultural landscape in Bavaria visible and tangible, and the Bergson Art Power Plant is at the forefront.
