Construction work and replacement traffic
The construction work is not a coincidence, but an important step in the renovation of the railway lines, as stated in a report by German railways is explained. Among other things, more than four kilometers of tracks between Neubiberg and Hohenbrunn will be renewed, and around 7,000 sleepers and 7.5 tons of ballast will be used. In addition, two level crossings will be renovated and important work will be carried out on the control and safety technology. These measures cost a total of around 14 million euros.
A replacement bus service will be organized to take commuters to the affected stations. Buses will run between the main train station and Pasing every 20 minutes. For added convenience, there will be faster bus services during weekday peak periods.
Outlook on punctuality
Despite the construction-related restrictions, Deutsche Bahn shows that it is working on its punctuality. In 2023, around 64% of long-distance trains were already on time. On DB Regio's regional trains, punctuality was as high as 92 to 93%. Decisive factors for delays are often construction sites, renovations or technical malfunctions.
