On the evening of September 26, 2025, there were several arrests of pickpockets at the Oktoberfest, right in the busy atmosphere of the last days of Oktoberfest. And when the clock struck shortly before midnight, it was four men aged 18 to 25 from Slovenia and Slovakia who stole a backpack from a group of people.
All-round security at the Oktoberfest
The police have increased their deployment at Oktoberfest to prevent pickpocketing and other crimes. As the tz reported, these measures are necessary because there are not only thefts, but also aggressive attacks on officers. Earlier this week there was an incident in which a 28-year-old Italian man attacked a policewoman and tried to make her fall. He received support from his companion, who was also arrested.
Oktoberfest visitors not only face pickpockets, but also other threats. In the middle of the week, a young woman in the area was assaulted in which a 28-year-old reached under her skirt. Such incidents are also part of the assessment that the festival management will take after the successful festival.
Despite security measures, visitors remain relaxed
