Shock in Munich: hit-and-run after crash with ambulance!
On the afternoon of July 16, 2025 at around 5:40 p.m. an unfortunate incident occurred in Munich-Ludwigsvorstadt. An unknown driver of a silver VW Polo rushed towards an ambulance that was braking and was on an emergency trip with special signals. This had to brake abruptly due to a narrowing caused by the construction site, which provoked the accident. According to tz.de, the person who caused the accident committed a hit-and-run and left the slightly damaged ambulance behind.
Thank God everyone involved was uninjured. However, the ambulance had to cancel its mission, which is particularly annoying in such situations. The police estimate the material damage to be in the low four-digit range. The traffic police officers are currently busy finding witnesses to the accident in order to identify the driver they are looking for. Anyone who can provide information is asked to contact incident command.
Hit and run as a recurring problem
Hit and run is anything but a rare phenomenon in Munich. Just a few weeks ago there was an impressive incident in Ramersdorf when a truck driver tore a tram overhead line with an incorrectly retracted crane and then fled. This incident, as reported by sueddeutsche.de, resulted in material damage of over 100,000 euros. Fortunately, the police were able to make a 37-year-old man from the Ebersberg district flee as a suspected driver.
What is less pleasing is that such incidents put a lot of strain on the streets of Munich. The high traffic density and the constant construction sites contribute to traffic jams and accidents, as tag24.de also notes. It remains to be seen how the police will progress in solving these incidents and whether they will be able to bring the fleeing drivers to justice.
In any case, it is important to remain vigilant and act quickly in the event of an accident. The Munich police are calling on people to report incidents as witnesses in order to improve traffic safety in the city.
