An unexpected power outage paralyzed part of the Laim district of Munich at around 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2025. Around 3,000 households were affected when a power cable from Stadtwerke München (SWM) was damaged during construction work on Fürstenrieder Straße. The outage caused some excitement in the neighborhood, although most households were able to have power restored within an hour or two.

The last supply interruption in the immediate vicinity of the damage site was resolved by the evening, which gradually eased the situation. The fire department also had to intervene to take temporary safety measures at Laimer Platz.
