Defeat for KG Aibling-Grafing: Derby against Großhadern was narrowly decided!
In an exciting Bavarian derby of the 2nd Judo Bundesliga, the Aibling-Grafing combat community suffered a bitter 5:9 defeat against TSV Großhadern last Saturday, June 28th. Despite a brave performance, the lack of key fighters put the team behind. Coach Martin Garic was not present due to illness and was represented by Florian Speigel, the third board member of KSV Bad Aibling.
The approximately 300 spectators in the gymnasium of the St. Georg elementary and middle school in Bad Aibling saw an exciting competition. The KG Aibling-Grafing started promisingly: Mohamed-Montassar Rouahi (+100 kg) and Muhammed Tachaev (-66 kg) scored the first two points and ensured a 2-0 lead. Unfortunately, David Sperlich was unable to improve on the “Golden Score” and lost his fight after over six minutes.
The course of the competition
As a result, Matthias Werner (-100 kg) suffered a defeat against Daniil Spyrydonov, and Lucas Wiedemann also had to admit defeat to Mahomed Khakimov (-81 kg). The KG Aibling-Grafing was particularly hit by the injury to Alexander Klaus-Sternwieser (-60 kg) in the duel against Felix Winter. Hendrik Eichner was also unable to prevail and lost to Lucas Schouten. So at halftime it was 2:5 for the guests from Großhadern.
Aibling-Grafing didn't let themselves be defeated in the second round. Rouahi scored again, this time against Jan Wichmann, and Tachaev followed with another win against Patrick Malik to make it 4:5. But hope for a turnaround faded when Lucas Kuttalek (-73 kg) lost to Rufus Barske. Philipp Ampletzer initially surprised Spiroidonov, but then lost in the ground fight. Kevin Miller (-81 kg) also had to admit defeat after a close fight, while Maxim Weisser (-60 kg) showed a lot of effort but ultimately lost to Natan Reimann Paulus. Valentin Larasser (-90 kg) won his last fight, but this wasn't enough to turn things around and the encounter ended 5:9 for Großhadern.
Outlook and reactions
Despite the defeat, coach Florian Speigel was satisfied with the performance of his fighters and particularly singled out Tachaev and Miller. This encounter is considered a high-quality sporting and atmospheric highlight of the current season. “The team has potential, we just have to keep at it,” summarized Speigel optimistically.
Denis Weisser, first chairman of KSV Bad Aibling, had previously shown confidence and saw the team on an equal footing with Großhadern.
It remains to be seen how the KG Aibling-Grafing will fare in the coming fights. The team has the potential to prevail, but it is important to better compensate for the failures of important fighters in order to get back on the road to success.
