New learning center in Feldmoching: The future of the school concept begins!

Big news at the Willy Brandt Municipal Comprehensive School in Feldmoching: The new school building will be based on the innovative Munich learning house concept designed. This concept, which has been adopted for all new buildings since 2015, offers a new structure that divides large schools into smaller, manageable units. This means that students can learn in a familiar atmosphere without losing track of things.

In the new school building, six classes are combined to form a learning center. At the Willy Brandt Comprehensive School, these learning houses are organized vertically, which means that classes from levels 5 to 10 come together in a single learning house. This not only promotes cross-year cooperation, but also enables numerous Peer learning activities.

Versatile learning environment

The learning house families consist of around 200 students and thus facilitate participation and responsibility. Whether classrooms, alternative, multifunctional or inclusion rooms – the equipment in the new school building leaves nothing to be desired. This means that several learning methods can be carried out at the same time in order to better take individual support needs into account.

The Willy Brandt Municipal Comprehensive School has a total of 952 students who take part in the full-day school program. A nine-person kitchen team also ensures 700 healthy, freshly prepared meals every day. The extensive school grounds offer plenty of space for leisure activities with indoor and outdoor options. These include an existing sports hall, a school swimming pool, a newly constructed soccer field, basketball courts, beach volleyball areas and a large climbing frame.

The heart: the market square

A central point of the learning center is the “market square”. It serves as a meeting zone where students and teachers can come together. This structure not only enables close collaboration between different grades, but also an improved culture of relationships between students, teachers and social workers in multi-professional teams.

With this flexible and student-oriented approach, the Munich learning house concept is ideally geared to the challenges of modern education. The goal is to create an inclusive and individual learning environment that promotes students' self-responsibility and increases their identification with the school.

Experience shows that the learning house concept has already proven itself in Munich and is very popular with students, teachers and parents. The new school building at the Willy Brandt Comprehensive School opens another important chapter in the development of innovative educational structures. It remains exciting to see how these groundbreaking concepts will continue to unfold in the coming period.
