Egg attack in Erding: passers-by injured and perpetrator on the run!

On the night of Friday, October 3rd, a bizarre incident occurred in the Erding city area that slightly injured several passers-by. At around 9:30 p.m. they were pelted with eggs from a moving Skoda, presumably without warning. The incident caused a stir because the perpetrators immediately fled in their vehicle towards the Altenerding fire department. The Erding police have already initiated searches and three young men were examined as part of this check. But clearly identifying the perpetrator is difficult because there were only two unknown witnesses in the area before they left the crime scene. The police are therefore asking possible additional observers to call 08122 / 968-0 in order to advance the investigation , reports the Wochenanzeiger.

Was this incident a sign of increasing unrest in the region? Such incidents are not the only ones that have concerned the police in recent times. On the same day, a 22-year-old man also experienced a rough encounter in Erding. At around 8 p.m., he was physically attacked by a group of six to seven men at Herzoggraben, a small gravel area by the water, and demanded to hand over money. The injured party was ultimately able to escape with a small double-digit euro amount, but suffered bruises and abrasions. Here, too, some perpetrators fled in an unknown vehicle. This incident highlights a worrying trend of brutality crimes in the region , said the Bavarian police.

Crime in Erding on the rise

A look at the Erding district's crime statistics shows that security in the region remains a hotly debated topic. In 2022, crime increased by 6.4 percent to a total of 4,233 crimes, which means more than ten crimes per day. In comparison, the Erding police station recorded 3,031 crimes, which represents an increase compared to 2022.

Dorfen 1044 1196

The increase in thefts is particularly noticeable, rising from 878 in 2022 to 1002 in 2023. Train stations are popular as the most common crime scenes for bicycle thefts. There has also been an increase in break-ins into basements and garages, although in the long term residential break-ins are declining , as the Süddeutsche Zeitung reports.

The increase in brutality crimes, which often occur in restaurants, schools and public transport, suggests that safety is an important issue for citizens. It remains to be hoped that the police will quickly bring the quiet, contentious situation under control and bring the perpetrators to justice. Citizens are urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious incidents immediately.
