Feldmoching celebrates Rosstag: traditional festival with 64 horses!

On October 12, 2025, the historic village center of Feldmoching will once again be transformed into the stage for a very special occasion: the Feldmoching Rosstag. This tradition has existed since 1983 and has become a popular event in recent years, which is now celebrated every two years. This year, around 64 magnificently decorated steeds of various breeds, including Bavarian and Belgian draft horses, Percherons and piebalds, will parade through the streets. Hello Munich reports that the parade will begin at 11 a.m. on the corner of Feldmochinger Straße and Georg-Zech-Allee and end with a blessing of the horses at the war memorial.

A group of committed citizens who founded the Feldmochinger Rossler interest group in 2023 are organizing the festival. The parade is accompanied by music from the Anderltal musicians, then it continues in the Zehntmeier courtyard, where the celebrations begin. The festive atmosphere will be supported from around 4 p.m. by a shuttle service to the Feldmoching entrepreneurs' autumn show, which offers visitors even more opportunities to immerse themselves in the local culture.

A look back: Rosstag 2023

Rosstag was celebrated in Feldmoching on October 8, 2023. As in previous years, the festival took place on the first Sunday after the Oktoberfest and offered an impressive spectacle with festively decorated horse teams and typical Bavarian music bands. The procession led past the Marian Column and over several streets back to Feldmochinger Straße, where the local parish of St. Peter and Paul blessed the horses, riders and teams. A delegation from the CSU faction of the Feldmoching-Hasenbergl district committee was also there and supported the customs in the region, supported by financial resources from the district committee. CSU emphasizes that this collaboration is important in order to keep Bavarian traditions alive.

Bavarian costume parades, such as the Feldmochinger Rosstag, are not only a feast for the senses, they are also a piece of local connection. The Bavarian Lion describes the importance of such parades: They present the diversity of Bavarian culture and bring people of all ages together. Whether through financial support or through volunteer work, the community is clearly the focus here. Rosstag is not only a celebration of horses and traditional costumes, but also an expression of the strong Bavarian community in Feldmoching.

With many Feldmochingers actively involved in the planning and implementation, the coming Rosstag will certainly be a complete success again. All that's left to say is: here's to having a happy time together and continuing this wonderful tradition!
