Munich Klinik Bogenhausen: New 1,000-bed building sets standards!

The Munich Clinic Bogenhausen has opened an impressive new extension that will permanently change the medical landscape in the Bavarian capital. With a capacity of 1,000 beds, the clinic is not only the largest healthcare provider in Munich, but is also one of the most modern hospitals in Germany. The inauguration of the new building took place recently and marks a significant step in the healthcare infrastructure.

What is particularly striking is the most modern transplant station for seriously burned patients that Germany has to offer. In the future, 17 state-of-the-art operating theaters will also be available there, including two hybrid operating rooms equipped with the latest robot-assisted technology. These hybrid operating rooms enable minimally invasive procedures and significantly improve patient recovery. The total investment for this ambitious expansion amounts to around 170 million euros, which shows that no expense was spared when it came to maintenance and modernization measures.

Technological advancements in the healthcare sector

Thanks to precise coordination of all technical trades, an innovative and comprehensive infrastructure was created. The operating area also offers daylight in the 17 operating rooms, which not only improves the working conditions for the medical staff but also promotes the recovery of patients. In the last few weeks, the first important wards such as the internal intensive care unit have been set up in the new premises to ensure smooth operations.

A particularly outstanding feature of the new building is the helipad on the roof, which is approximately 20 meters high above the ground. This makes it possible to quickly transport seriously injured or critically ill patients to the operating room or shock room. On average, a helicopter lands there three to four times a week, which significantly optimizes emergency care. A fire-fighting foam test was carried out successfully at the landing site, ensuring the highest safety standards even in an emergency.

Comfort and modern equipment for patients

With a total usable area of 13,300 square meters, the extension offers space for comfort wards, intensive care units and various medical facilities such as pathology. Particular attention was paid to the design of the rooms: special lighting concepts support healing, while patients in the comfort ward in 64 beds are offered an excellent view of the Alps. This ward is reserved for patients requiring special accommodation services.

In the future, the extension will not only revolutionize the operating area, but also promote interdisciplinary collaboration between specialists and nurses. Current exercise scenarios in the operating room area show the effort to continuously optimize processes and equipment. Full operation of the new building is planned for summer 2025, which will give the clinic the opportunity to integrate the latest technologies into everyday life and provide its patients with the best possible care.
