Delays and diversions: DB timetable changes on October 31st!

On October 31, 2025, commuters in Munich will have to prepare for some changes in S-Bahn traffic. The reason for this are deviations in the timetables of the S 1 and S 2. According to news.de, these adjustments are necessary because there is a switch Repair work needs to be carried out.

The S 1, which normally runs between Freising/Airport and Leuchtenbergring, will only run to the main station on this day, with no intermediate stops between Moosach and the main station. On the other hand, the S 2 will be rerouted from Erding to Petershausen and Altomünster. Between Riem and Ostbahnhof (track 7-13) the S 2 runs to Obermenzing, with the Leuchtenbergring and Berg am Laim stops omitted. For the return journey, however, the S 2 runs on the regular route with all planned stops.

Passengers well informed

There are alternatives for users who are not afraid of making one or two changes. Travelers between Ostbahnhof and Leuchtenbergring can use the S4, S6 or S8. If you want to get from Ostbahnhof to Berg am Laim, you also have the option of taking the S4 or S6. A replacement service will also be set up between Dachau train station and Altomünster.

Deutsche Bahn plans to implement the timetable changes every hour on October 31st. Some departures will be canceled. For example, the connections from Dachau to Ostbahnhof at 07:19, 07:39 and 08:19 are affected - as is the first connection from Ostbahnhof to Dachau at 06:06. The Erding trains at 06:17, 06:37 and 07:17 are also canceled to Dachau station, and further cancellations cannot be ruled out in the morning service.

Punctuality remains a challenge

Deutsche Bahn's punctuality has reached a new level in 2023. Around 64 percent of long-distance trains were on time - a slight decrease compared to 65.2 percent in 2022. In light of current developments, it is worth mentioning that, despite all efforts, 36 percent of trains arrive at the stops at least six minutes late. However, punctuality is particularly high on regional trains at 92 to 93 percent.

In addition to construction sites and renovations, the main reasons for this tardiness are technical malfunctions in vehicles and problems with control and safety technology. Deutsche Bahn continues to strive to improve the provision of information through current traffic reports in order to inform commuters about the situation on the rail network.

Whether for commuters or travelers, the planned changes this Friday mean that all passengers should prepare well in order to get to their destination stress-free. With this in mind: Drive safely and pay attention to the latest information from Deutsche Bahn!
