Tassilogarten opens in Haidhausen: Menu is already being changed!

After almost 30 years, the Tassilogarten in Haidhausen has reopened its doors. The reopening two weeks ago took place under the direction of Thomas Winklhofer, who acts as the new innkeeper. There was great interest in the neighborhood, and many neighbors asked about the start date after the previous owner, Michael Greim, had to close the restaurant due to a lack of staff. Winklhofer brings a lot of experience from a wide variety of catering establishments, including the Ratskeller at Marienplatz and a festival tent at the Oktoberfest. His goal was to develop further and to get away from his home business, the Ratskeller.

The Tassilo garden offers plenty of space both inside and outside. With 90 seats indoors and up to 200 in the outdoor dining area, there is room for everyone who wants to meet in a friendly atmosphere. The newly designed guest garden is particularly family-friendly, has a small playground and invites you to enjoy Bavarian hospitality.

A variety of dishes and prices

The menu received some feedback in the first two weeks after opening and was adjusted at short notice. Originally a semi-vegetarian menu was planned, but now the kitchen offers a greater focus on meat dishes, including Bavarian specialties such as Styrian fried chicken, meat patties and roast pork. Tafelspitz is also on the menu, which combines dishes from Bavaria, Austria, northern Italy and France. A lunch menu with cheaper options changes weekly.

The prices are anything but exorbitant: half a Spaten is available for 5.20 euros, a glass of Grüner Veltliner (0.2L) for 6.80 euros and a juice spritzer for 4.50 euros. This means that the Tassilogarten is well in the running even compared to similar locations in Munich, which also focus on quality and regional products. The Max Emanuel Brewery is known for its local cuisine with seasonal salads, Wiener Schnitzel and other Bavarian classics.

Visual enhancement and opening times

Winklhofer has visually refreshed the restaurant with new furniture and lamps, and the modern furnishings harmonize well with the nostalgic charm of the old tiled stove. He also plans to soon expand the dessert menu to include crepes, a nod to his experiences at a crepe shop in City Hall.

For anyone who would like to take a look at the Tassilo Garden: The restaurant is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. A visit is worth it, not only because of the diverse audience - from families to office workers to senior citizens - but also because of the traditional and freshly prepared dishes that reflect the Bavarian lifestyle.

For further details about the gastronomic scene in Munich, it is worth taking a look at the Süddeutsche as well as the Abendzeitung, both of which report on the exciting development in the Tassilogarten.
