Erdinger high school graduate with 0.84: On to the elite in the Maximilianeum!
Antonia Lohner, the best in her year at the Erding vocational high school with an impressive Abitur average of 0.84, is moving to Munich to enter the renowned Maximilianeum. [Merkur]. This foundation, which has existed since 1876, is known for supporting only six to eight talented high school graduates each year by offering them free room and board in the Maximilianeum, which also houses the Bavarian State Parliament.
The young graduate, who grew up on a multi-generational farm in Adlberg near Inning, paved her way into the academic world by overcoming a variety of challenges. After training as a notary assistant, she decided to get her high school diploma in order to open up new professional opportunities. “The legal world seemed too dry to me,” admits Antonia, and at the same time finds the logic and clarity of mathematics fascinating.
Social commitment and school performance
As Tz highlights, Antonia is intensively involved with the Catholic rural youth, which underlines her status as a socially and academically committed personality. Thomas Kaschel, press spokesman for the BOS, emphasizes their commitment as exemplary.
During her time at school, Antonia found learning relatively easy, even though German in the 12th grade was her biggest challenge. Regarding her future, she plans to immerse herself in a learning community at the Maximilianeum and also take advantage of the opportunity to study abroad in Oxford or Spain.
Special support for talented minds
The Maximilianeum Foundation is one of the most prestigious funding programs in Germany and aims to support talented students. In addition to free accommodation and meals, the scholarship holders also receive offers such as language courses and the opportunity to take part in stays abroad. This support reflects the aim of promoting educational opportunities and developing talent, which is also anchored in the “Talent in the State – Bavaria” program. As the Bavarian State Government explains, this program is aimed at young people from socially disadvantaged backgrounds who demonstrate good academic performance and strong social commitment.
Antonia Lohner's story is a strong example of how perseverance and social commitment can lead to great success. Her family is proud of her career and actively supported her throughout her school years. After completing her studies, Antonia would like to lecture at a university or college, but also sees promising opportunities in business.
All that remains to be said: With her commitment and outstanding achievements, Antonia Lohner is a real role model for the youth in Bavaria!
