Glamorous evening: Polarbar of the Bayerischer Hof enchants Munich!

In frosty temperatures, the Polarbar in the Bayerischer Hof opened its doors on Tuesday evening, December 4th, 2025, offering the perfect place to welcome the winter months in style. Despite a nasty cold, the hotel manager, Innegrit Volkhardt, was there and welcomed the 350 invited guests. How tz.de reported that the guests also included well-known personalities, including Prof. Dr. Bruno Reichart and his wife Elke, who were delighted to be part of this social highlight.

The Polarbar, which currently attracts visitors with its fiery installations and inviting ambience, has developed into a constant companion of Munich's winter tradition since it opened in 2005. Instead of the previous ice bar look, which proved vulnerable to the weather, the bar now glows with warm lights, complemented by fire pits, warming blankets and a fine selection of drinks. Visitors can look forward to a new highlight on the drinks menu: the “Winter Xpresso Martini”, which offers a tempting mix of vodka, Grand Marnier, espresso, clementine and chocolate syrup, alongside classic offerings such as mulled wine and hot mai tai. Süddeutsche.de emphasizes that the bar is not only known for drinks, but also for its culinary delicacies such as truffle burgers and currywurst.

A place for celebrities and socializing

The atmosphere that evening was characterized by a colorful mix of politics, business and art. The event attracted numerous stars, including the actor's wife Victoria Lauterbach, the Indian Consul General Sinha Shatrughna and landlord Sepp Krätz. All of these personalities contributed to the festive atmosphere. “It attracts different social groups,” it says Süddeutsche.de aptly describes.

There was once a plan to equip the Polarbar with a bar made of real ice and small igloos, but they have now decided on a more robust and inviting version that can be better adapted to Munich's capricious weather. The new equipment not only gives the bar coziness, but also a unique flair. “This is a fixed date in the calendars of many people in Munich,” said Andrea Sixt enthusiastically.

A hotel with history

The Bayerischer Hof is a traditional five-star hotel that was opened in 1841 at the request of King Ludwig I. It has an eventful history and today offers over 400 rooms and six restaurants. The historical rooms, such as the Hall of Mirrors and the Ballroom, are a popular place not only for hotel guests, but also for cultural events. Since 1963, the Bayerischer Hof has also hosted the Munich Security Conference, which attracts over 450 international decision-makers. The hotel offers both a nostalgic and a modern perspective on Munich society. Details about the various offers can be found at in-muenchen.de.

The opening of the Polarbar remains in the memory of those present, not least because of the guests' individual stories, which always revolve around the tradition of celebrating together during the Christmas season. The social gathering, with good food and special drinks, makes the Polarbar a highlight for all Munich residents and guests of the city.
