Over 1,700 participants at the moving kreuz&quer” festival in Allach!

The 14th edition of the popular mobility project “kreuz&quer” recently took place in the Allach-Untermenzing district of Munich. From May 28th to July 9th, 2025, an impressive 1,700 children, young people and adults took part in this exciting scavenger hunt. The participants covered an impressive 103,870 kilometers on foot, by bike or on a scooter. This campaign aims to motivate people to be active and at the same time promote a climate-friendly approach to their neighborhood. To reward the commitment, a real day of celebration was celebrated at the closing party on July 17th in the AWO youth center Orange Planet.

One of the highlights of this festival was the honoring of the winners by mobility speaker Georg Dunkel. The primary school on Theodor-Fischer-Straße was particularly pleased: it achieved the furthest distance with an average of 93.69 kilometers per participant. The top positions were taken by three teams, which together covered over 2,487 kilometers:

  • Dreamteam: 971,25 km
  • Hoppelhasen: 810,66 km
  • Die GOATS: 705,64 km

A celebration for the whole family

The final party offered numerous attractions such as bouncy castles, face painting and Punch and Judy shows. These entertainment options were unlocked through the points collected by the participants. Real fun for young and old!

The “kreuz&quer” concept can also be seen in connection with modern, digital scavenger hunts. This innovative variant brings a breath of fresh air to the traditional game of geocaching. In such digital rallies, apps and GPS are used to guide participants through interactive treasure hunts. Each location holds small rewards or tasks that need to be mastered. The programming not only promotes physical activity, but also cognitive skills and teamwork - all from the comfort of your own neighborhood. This gives families the opportunity to get moving in a playful way and explore the surroundings together without having to miss out on screen activities. The focus is always on fun and learning. This not only motivates the little ones, but parents can also play an active role in revitalizing the local streets.

To ensure a safe environment, experts recommend that adults support the use of the apps and children are educated about digital security practices. On family outings, plenty of small snacks and rewards are a big help to increase motivation.

Outlook for the next round

After the successful final event, the anticipation for the next round of “kreuz&quer” remains great. This starts on October 1st in Neuhausen-Gern-Ackermannbogen and will once again get the little adventurers moving. A complete success on all levels!
