On Monday, June 30th, 2025, there was a dramatic traffic accident in a tunnel on the A99 near Fürstenfeldbruck, which luckily ended lightly. A 31-year-old driver from the Miesbach area suffered a medical attack while driving, causing him to lose control of his vehicle. The vehicle not only collided with several other cars, but also crashed into the tunnel walls several times. A total of five vehicles were involved in the accident, with material damage estimated at around 40,000 euros. This information is reported by Radio Gong.
An alert driver noticed the danger and overtook the damaged vehicle, eventually bringing it to a stop. Without this courageous intervention, the situation could have ended much worse. Fortunately, only one person was slightly injured and taken to hospital.
Medical emergency as cause of accident
As the Allgäuer Zeitung further reports, the driver's medical emergency was apparently avoidable. The 31-year-old had not taken an important medication, which led to the sudden incident. He was traveling from the Munich western bypass towards Miesbach when the accident happened. The Fürstenfeldbruck traffic police were quickly on site and temporarily closed the A99 in the direction of Salzburg, which also had an impact on the Aubing tunnel.
The investigation is now focusing on the circumstances surrounding the incident. The driver is held responsible for endangering road traffic and negligent bodily harm.
